Elton John, the famous British singer, composer and musician, decides to enter the world of Web 3.0 by launching his own collection of NFTs.
Proceeds from Elton John’s NFT collection will go to the AIDS Foundation
The singer has publicly stated that he is not a top expert on the metaverse, but that he clearly recognizes the potential of this digital revolution.
Elton John immediately announced that the main objective behind the creation of this collection is to be able to raise new funds for his foundation – AIDS Foundation.
The proceeds from sales, therefore, will go entirely to the AIDS Foundation which is one of the main non-profit organizations in the world, founded by himself with the specific aim of funding research and prevention against AIDS.
The Elton John collection was created in collaboration with Jadu, an augmented reality (AR) platform and Sweet, an important NFT marketplace.
By purchasing one of the 6,666 NFTs in the collection, the user will become part of the Rocket NFT club, an exclusive club whose access allows them to unlock a series of future experiences and unique rewards.
Rocket Man currently has launched the virtual Hoverboard Jadu, usable on the platform, and Rocket NFT.
Both provide owners with access to exclusive launches and pre-sale opportunities.
The hoverboard auction began at 7:00 am PT on Monday and will end at 3:00 pm PT on Wednesday.
The Rocket Man Hoverboard, one of the pieces currently on sale, is also said to be the rarest of the 6,666 items within the Jadu Hoverboard collection.
The NFT in question was designed by Voxel Bunny, who also built Jadu’s jetpacks and hoverboards.
The artist for John’s project decided to embrace an eclectic design that references a keyboard pinball machine, paying homage to John’s 1975 video “Pinball Wizard”.
The NFT also features John’s iconic star glasses, piano keys and musical notes from the song – “Rocket man”.
Voxel Bunny is proud of this extraordinary collaboration with the British artist, stating:
“As a fellow LGTBQ + artist, it’s hard to put into words the pride I feel in paying tribute to Elton John and his legacy that continues to have a significant impact on the lives of so many.
And knowing that my creation will play a role in helping to end the AIDS epidemic means the world to me. “
Elton John himself was also extremely enthusiastic about this new project:
“While I’m not a metaverse expert I wanted to make sure my first NFT was something true to me. Collaborating with LGBTQ + artist Voxel Bunny and Jadu on something so unique that helps the Elton John AIDS Foundation in Pride month was therefore the perfect opportunity.
Web3 has the potential to bring people from around the world together like never before and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to connect with my fans in a vibrant and growing community. “
